You can see our first round of 4th of July camping that we took last year here. This year, we went to the same campsite in Duck Creek and met up with my family again one day later than they had all arrived. Everything was set up and dinner was even ready for us and on the table when we arrived. Everyone was there and we had such a blast hanging out, playing games, and talking with everyone. Unfortunately, Nate's allergies were out of control so he was kind of out of commission for a lot of the trip, but he tried his best to join in the fun and was always helping out with the fire.
I even convinced him to go on a hike with me and a few others to Cascade Falls. It was a pretty narrow hike, with cliffs off the side (which Nate was terrified of), but he did well and we made it to the falls, which were so pretty and so worth the hike.
I thought this picture of Nate was funny eating all alone, but he really just wanted to be in the shade so he moved his chair over there.
And of course, we all had the best time watching the little one do anything and everything. Plus he was the only one who didn't mind getting his picture taken after 4 days of camping.
This was so cute...randomly he would get really shy when he realized everyone was watching him. So he would put his head down, and slowly take the tiniest baby steps until he got to his Mama and then he would bury his head in her, trying to hide from everyone.
He loved to dig with Grandma's spatula, which probably got sanitized three times a day. And this is his "cheese!" face.
Totally being a boy. This is right when he caught me taking a picture and he then went into shy mode.
Hiding out under the tarp while a rain storm passed, saying "cheese!" He doesn't always get the looking at the camera part.
Playing in the tent on Grandma's deflated mattress.
And this was seriously the best moment. All of the big boys were digging a hole for the dutch oven, so he grabbed a screwdriver and tried digging a hole too. He just wants to be one of the guys. So adorable!
We had so much fun seeing everyone and spending nonstop time with my family playing games and hanging out. We're so appreciative of everything that my mom and dad did to put this trip together and for all of the planning and preparation that went into it. I definitely could never do it. But we enjoyed it and can't wait for the next trip (hopefully in a place that will cause less allergies for Nate)!
