It's hard to believe I fit under that title now.  Last Friday I walked at BYU's McKay School of Education Convocations.  I also said the closing prayer.  It was pretty cool that I got to sit on stage the whole time, although I was pretty nervous.  My parents and Nate's parents both drove out for it and I was so appreciative of their support.

We walked around campus after to show Nate's parents and so that my parents could reminisce.  It was a weird feeling knowing I was walking those sidewalks for the last time...at least until my kids go.  I definitely feel closure with BYU right now, I'm excited to be out of Utah and starting my career as a teacher.  I wrote a whole post about the things I would and wouldn't miss about Provo, but decided I'd wait to see if any of my opinions changed.  The traffic, construction, and weather in Utah couldn't have really been that bad, right? (Or maybe I'll just slowly forget over time).  But I will definitely miss good friends that we made there, as well as going to Cougar football and basketball games.  I'm also pretty sad that my little sister is moving up in a week and living less than a block from our apartment now that I'm not there.  But I'm definitely excited to be in Vegas and around my family here.

There has to be an easier way to get a tan.

This morning, after Nate got back from his early morning basketball, he woke me up and asked if I wanted to hike the Y today.  I had been wanting to do it because I hadn't yet and we're only going to be in Provo for 2 more months.  Plus I really wanted to work on my tan and I have nowhere to lay out!  I figured it would be a good way to finally start my summer tan and that it'd be a nice time with my husband.  So we got up, ate breakfast, and headed out.  We started out chatting with each other and having a great time, until about the second turn.  Please keep in mind that this is the first physical activity I've done in probably 5 years, and by about halfway this was me.

Actually, Nate said "Act like you're dying for a picture."  So I did.  But I really did feel like this.  Luckily, Nate has been working out a lot for the past 6 months so he was able to keep pushing me.  But it was about at this point that I realized there has to be an easier way to get a tan than this.  To all of those people that have hiked the Y and thought it was no big deal...you're crazy.  Or I'm just ridiculously out of shape (which is probably the case).  But eventually, after Nate's motivational phrases and some resting along the way, we made it!!  It was a fabulous view, and I'm glad to say that I've done it.  Now I feel like I'll be a successful BYU grad.

And I did get a slight tan, so that was a success too.

Last Game in the Marriott

My time at BYU is quickly coming to an end.  In just 5 short months I will be walking in a cap and gown to receive my diploma.  That being said, and I know this will come as a shocker to most everyone I know, there are a FEW things I may miss... One of which is my Cougars.  I have enjoyed many football and basketball seasons (especially this year, obviously).  And last Saturday, I attended my last major sporting event as a BYU Cougar.  We'll probably go to some baseball games this summer and maybe a few volleyball games soon, but football and basketball have been my main source of entertainment.

Anyways, I know I've said it before but we're so glad we got to be here to witness this incredible year in BYU basketball history.  We have had so much fun going to the Marriott Center and being in that atmosphere to watch Jimmer play.  The last game was, honestly, kind of emotional as the seniors left the court for the last time and Brandon Davies joined his team to the loudest applause yet.  Anyways, here are some pictures and video we took.

Husband's Birthday

Yesterday was Nate's birthday and I didn't post about it because I thought I would post today about what we did to celebrate with all of our fabulous pictures.

But we didn't take any pictures. Whoops.

What we did do though (after Nate went to school and I taught my little second graders, which will be a post to come soon) was go to Mama Chus for lunch.

I then had to go back to work for a few hours, but then met up with Nate again at the Marriott Center for some Jimmer Time.  We have loved going to the BYU Basketball games this season and are so glad that we're still students here to enjoy and witness this incredible time.  Go Cougars!

So it wasn't the most spectacular birthday for Nate, I'm sure.  But he got Mexican food and a basketball game in.  I feel bad I didn't have time to do more for him.

I do love him a lot though.  He is the best part of my day and I love crawling in bed with him at night.  (Lately we've taken to chatting and laughing way too much in the wee hours of the night when we should be sleeping, but we love each other.  So it's what we do.)

Teacher Clothes

So we've started another semester.  Our last semester, actually.  I can't believe how fast college has flown by for me, yet I feel like I am a completely different person from that girl who got on the wrong bus and was on her way to Lindon on that first day of school freshman year.

But as the end of my college career comes to a close, the beginning of my actual career draws nearer.  And with my Practicum starting at the end of February and my Student Teaching starting mid-April, I think it's about time I outfit my closet with "teacher clothes", don't you?  Last semester we stocked Nate's side of the closet full of sexy suits for his future business endeavors, interviews, and eventual career.  So now it's my turn.  And I'm loving these prospects for my teacher wardrobe.

Labor Day Weekend

My parents and little brother came up for Labor Day weekend and we had so much fun enjoying the beautiful weather and back-to-school atmosphere together.  My parents and I had J-Dawgs for the first time ever, and it was a big hit with my dad - we even went back again before they left!  We just couldn't believe the amazing prices!

Then we walked around campus and they reminisced about the days long ago when they were here.  We sat around talking and they were in heaven being able to sit outside with a nice breeze in the 70s.  Later that night, my little brother went with Nate and I to the first football game of the season.  It got a little hot just standing around in the sun, but once we were in the shade it was perfect!  And they won, which made it that much better.

We also drove up to the Y while they were here.  That was as far as we made it though.  Haha.  My family are not hikers.  And the view was plenty nice from the parking lot.

And finally, we all got to go golfing together (minus my mom).  The course was beautiful (although a little chilly at 9:00 in the morning), and we had a lot of fun together.  But I forgot to take any pictures...sorry.  It was really fun having them up here for the long weekend and now Nate and I are just getting back into the swing of school full-time as well as working.  I did get promoted though and I love my job, so that helps.  Our classes don't seem too bad this semester, as long as we stay on top of them.  We can't believe this is our last fall here!  We're going to try to enjoy it and all of the beauty that comes with Utah falls before the snow hits.

Panicking

Everyone is so excited about Fall right now.
And don't get me wrong, I love Fall.  It's actually my favorite season...in a normal place.  But in Utah I know that the beginning of Fall means that Winter could be just mere weeks away.  Although I've had my fill of summer and I feel alright with it being over, I never feel that way about Provo Falls.

Can I really do this again?
We only have one more Winter here (which we remind each other of often), but how I'm going to make it through even that is a mystery to me.
Ugh...I really hate cold/snow/ice/slush/runny noses/wind/slipping/etc.

This video is taking over BYU, and especially my facebook news feed.  I've already watched it about 10 times, and Nate and I laid in bed last night watching it over and over again before we went to sleep.  Then I came into work today and heard it playing over and over again on the back computer.  So I thought I'd put it out there for the blog world to enjoy.
