One of the best parts of living in Las Vegas has been being so close to family, and being able to watch my little brother play volleyball for his high school team (my old high school). The past two years he has been on the Freshman and JV teams, but this year as a junior he was on the Varsity team. He was their starting setter and truly is an amazing player! We made it to as many of his regular season games as possible, but when his team went to the state championship tournament, we made sure to get to all of his games! After some late season losses, they were the bottom seed to begin the tournament. They played some intense games to pull out last minute wins in order to make it to the state championship game, where they would be playing against a team from their division that they had already played three times during the season (and been beat all three times). But after beating the number one, undefeated team in the state we knew they deserved to be there and they could win it all. It was an extremely intense game, but they pulled out a HUGE come from behind win to beat them and become 2012 Nevada State Champions! On top of that, my brother was named First Team All Region Setter as a Junior. I am so proud of Connor and the hard work he has put into this sport that he loves and the way he takes charge to lead his team!
Quinn also made it to the games, but she spent most of the time being slightly terrified by the volume and the screaming and craziness she saw coming from her Momma. We had a blast cheering him on and supporting him. We can't wait until next year!
