A Hectic Christmas

This year, Christmas was a little hectic and went way too fast as we were in the process of moving into our new home, painting every room in the house, and recarpeting the entire upstairs.  I was so sad to see the holiday season fly by so quickly, but we had a great time celebrating with family and feel so blessed to finally be in our house!  It was definitely the best Christmas gift we could have been given this year.  We got the keys to our house a few days before Christmas, but the heat wasn't turned on until two days after so we continued to stay at my parents for the weekend.  Although I didn't get to put out a single one of my Christmas decorations this year, it was nice to feel at home at my parents and be surrounded by holiday decorations and smells.

We woke up Christmas morning to my sister and her adorable family arriving at the house ready for the day.  We had no idea what the rest of the day had in store for us from this crazy kid...
Please notice the trucks all lined up on his lap from his stocking...he didn't let them out of his sight all day.
We looked through our stockings and opened all of our presents from our siblings before we took a break to have a delicious breakfast before we got ready and headed off to church.  When we came back we all changed back into comfy clothes, my mom started to prepare Christmas dinner, and we got back to presents from Santa and my parents.  We were all so spoiled, especially my little nephew.  He made Christmas so much fun as he finally understood the concept of presents this year.  He loved to help everyone unwrap their gifts, pass out the next present, and carefully inspect whatever was opened to see if he needed it opened that second to play with or if it was just another boring shirt.  We had a blast watching his reaction to his presents and hearing him say "Sansa, ho ho!" over and over again.

It was a great Christmas day spent with family and we enjoyed the long time spent together as we slowly progressed through all of the presents.  Later we got to enjoy my mom's fabulous cooking once again as we had a delicious Christmas dinner.

The next day Nate's parents drove out from Colorado to help us work on our new house (in particular the carpet since that is what his dad does).  When they arrived, we went to go pick up the carpet right away but his mom stayed in our new garage to set up our stockings and presents that she had brought for us.  Since our heat still wasn't on, it was actually warmest in the garage and that's where we had our first Christmas in our new house.  We opened all of our gifts and stockings from Nate's family and were once again spoiled with amazing presents!

I can't believe how fast this holiday season flew by and I'm a little sad that I didn't get to enjoy it to it's fullest with everything else we had going on.  But it was great to have both of our families near during the season and I can't wait to make up for it next year with extra decorations and celebrations when Baby Girl will be celebrating her first Christmas with us!
