Harper's First Birthday
For Harper's first birthday, I really just kept things small and simple. It is two days after Christmas, so we just had my family over for some lunch and cake and ice cream. I got some balloons and made a slideshow of Harper's first year, but that was pretty much the extent of it all. We ate Port of Subs sandwiches, watched the slideshow while Harper opened presents, and then sang to her and let her dig into her cake! She didn't really care about it. She liked it, but didn't get too crazy or messy and didn't even care to finish it. She did love the sandwiches though and totally ate a whole one by herself. Then for her birthday dinner we went to Cafe Rio and she loved that too.

Harper - Twelve Months
The last of my monthly posts for my Harper girl. Her life has literally flown by. There is no way I feel like she has been with us for that long. She is just so calm and happy and well behaved that I don't even notice the time slipping by! But at the same time, I can't remember our life and family without her. She has changed the dynamics so much and we love her to pieces!
I can't believe she is not walking yet. The little stinker stands up from the floor on her own, dances, does squats, picks up toys and everything...but won't walk! She has plenty of balance and has taken a few steps, but she will not walk for anything. Oh well, hopefully soon.
She is starting to talk more and more. She says, "Momma, Dadda, uh-oh, bye bye, and ba-boo" when she is holding a wand (meaning bibbidy-bobbidy-boo...that's what happens when you have a big sister that loves Cinderella).
She loves to eat whatever we are eating. I can't think of anything I haven't given her (besides peanut butter and honey and those types of things) and she pretty much loves it all. Her favorites are probably pancakes, pasta, oatmeal, and breads. We finally found a sippy cup that works for her! She prefers a straw and once we found one, she started downing her whole milk. She drinks at least two cups a day, plus a cup of juice. A few weeks ago she was exclusively nursing, and now she's totally done with me. So crazy how fast she switched once we found a cup that she liked. It was a little sad for me to stop nursing her, but it's been about a week now and she is totally fine.
She still sleeps great. From about 7:30pm-7:30am every night. Then she naps from 9:30-11:00 and 1:00-4:00ish. She has started saying "nigh-night" to me lately when she is tired so I just bring her up to bed and lay her down, she puts her thumb in her mouth, grabs her blanket, and goes right to sleep. She is such a good girl.
She still loves Quinn to pieces and they are always laughing and busting up together (especially at night in their room). But she is definitely starting to fight back. For whatever reason, Quinn is pretty rough on Harper, but Harper has started pulling her hair or grabbing things back and I think it is hilarious that Quinn is getting a taste of her own medicine. We'll see how it goes in the future.

Christmas 2014
After getting home from Colorado, we had one day to get all of our final Christmas prep done. Luckily, I had finished most everything before we left. So when Nate got home from work, we had my parents over for Christmas Eve dinner. Our new tradition that I decided to start was to make a soup on Christmas Eve. So I made a delicious crockpot soup, with amazing sourdough french bread and salad and we all loved it. We then got the girls in their Christmas jammies, got Harper to bed and snuggled up to watch Arthur Christmas. (We started the tradition of watching a movie on Christmas Eve together last year) About 45 minutes in, my parents had to leave and as soon as they did Quinn got up and said, "It's time for nigh-night. I need to go to bed." My jaw dropped. What about our Christmas movie? Haha, but she was tired so I let her go to bed. Stinker. Nate and I finished building the girls play kitchen, did some last minute wrapping, and I baked cookies for my dad (that I always give him on Christmas morning), and we set all of the gifts out and went to bed. It was actually a perfect Christmas Eve.
Christmas morning when the girls woke up, around 7:30ish, we got them up and got their diapers changed and got them ready before heading downstairs. Even though Quinn got the concept of Santa a lot better this year, she didn't understand at all that there were presents waiting for her downstairs so there was no rush. We spent about an hour opening up gifts and playing with toys before Harper was ready for her first nap. This was the first year we were home for Christmas breakfast, so I tried to make scones and totally failed. Hopefully they'll be better next year.
When Harper woke up a few hours later, we headed to my parents house. We opened gifts from them and gave them theirs and then just kept prepping Christmas dinner. My sister and her family showed up and it got pretty crazy with all of the kids running around. Especially because Quinn didn't nap that day and she had a hard time understanding that her cousin, Jaeda, was opening gifts that weren't for her. We're still working on the whole sharing thing. But it was super fun. Right when we sat down to eat Christmas dinner, my little brother skyped us from Mexico on his mission. So dinner was eaten sporadically while trying to listen and talk with him and not all together which was a little hectic. But next year he will be home, which is crazy to think about! And it was so great to get to talk with him.

Colorado Trip 2014
Ok, I am so behind and just not doing well with blogging these days. So I am just going to do a quick recap of our Christmas season.
We went to Colorado on December 18. It was cold, but not much snow at first. We had an absolute blast just hanging out around Nate's parents house with his brothers, their wives, and all of their kids. Quinn had fun with her cousins, but after a few days of being away from home and being the biggest kid around...she started to become quite a little bully. It was so hard for Nate and me to watch because, although she is never the best at sharing, she was really acting out more than we had ever seen her before. Other than her attitude though, it really went great. It snowed on our second to last day there and she stood at the window for hours (while she was supposed to be napping) just watching the snow. I kept going in to try and get her to lay down and she would say, "Mom, I need to see this snow." Haha, how could I say no to that? Harper was so good the whole time, so mellow and calm and just loved watching everyone and playing with new things.
Even though we left on the 23rd, we had Christmas with Nate's family before we left so that we could all be together. We were so spoiled, especially the girls. They loved all of the presents and had a blast playing with all of their new toys.
The girls did great on the flights both ways, Quinn was so excited to get on the "purple plane"! We are so glad we made the trip out and got to see everyone and spend time with that side of our family.

Christmas Festivities
We had so much fun this Christmas season with the girls! Harper's first Christmas and Quinn being old enough to understand more really made things special. We went to Nate's work to see their lighting of the Christmas tree, which Quinn loved and talked about the big tree all December long. We went to see Santa at Town Square and saw their fake snow show, which the girls were mesmerized by. We went to Quiver Point, which is a street that goes all out with their Christmas lights. We circled around multiple times and Quinn couldn't get enough of all of the lights. Then we watched lots of Christmas movies and Quinn really loved the Christmas music this year too!
